Three focused services
Each assignment is scoped in advance, delivered in writing, and priced clearly — so you know what you are buying before any conversation begins.
Franchise Readiness Review
A structured review for single-location B2C owner-operators considering franchising. Output is a written readiness assessment covering operational documentation, brand assets and unit economics, with a clear list of areas that typically need attention first.
- Written readiness assessment delivered
- Unit economics review included
- Prioritised list of attention areas
Operations Manual Outline
A four-week assignment producing the structural outline of an operations manual for a small franchise system — chapter headings, topics for each section and suggested depth of treatment. Designed as a starting framework for your in-house team to build on over time.
- Full chapter and topic structure
- Suggested depth per section
- Ready for internal team to populate
Franchise Lead Sounding-Board
A monthly advisory arrangement for owners and franchise development leads who want a steady outside perspective. Includes two scheduled calls per month, written notes after each and discreet review of materials shared ahead of conversations. Paused and resumed engagements are welcomed.

- Flexible — pause and resume as needed
Why Slatebrook
What working with us looks like
We keep scope narrow and outputs concrete. There is no vague retainer, no upsell to a larger engagement — just clear work delivered on schedule.
Written deliverables
Every engagement produces a concrete document you can use internally. No slide decks, no verbal summaries as a substitute for written output.
Fixed scope and timeline
Each service is defined before it starts — scope, timeline and fee are agreed at the outset, with no expansions added mid-engagement without your approval.
Direct access
You work directly with the consultant assigned to your file, not with a junior intermediary. Questions are answered directly, without routing through layers of account management.
Discreet handling
Franchise planning conversations are often sensitive. Materials shared with us are handled carefully and not circulated beyond the people working on your file.
Transparent fees
Fees are published and fixed. The price listed is the price charged — no hourly billing creep, no unexpected add-ons at invoice time.
Flexible pacing
Franchise timelines rarely run to a neat schedule. Our monthly advisory can be paused and resumed when your situation changes — without penalty or requalification.
Next step
Is franchising the right direction for your business?
A short conversation costs nothing. We can tell you in plain terms what a readiness review would cover for your specific situation and whether the timing appears sound.
Common questions
Frequently asked
Who is the Franchise Readiness Review designed for?
It is designed for owners of a single-location B2C business — a café, retail concept, studio or similar — who are considering whether their format could work as a franchise. You do not need to have made any decisions yet; the review is intended to help you assess the question more clearly, not to push you toward a particular answer.
How long does each engagement take?
The Franchise Readiness Review runs for three weeks from the date we receive your background materials. The Operations Manual Outline runs for four weeks. The Sounding-Board arrangement is ongoing on a monthly basis and can be paused at any point.
What do I need to provide at the start?
For the readiness review, we ask for whatever documentation you already have — an existing operations checklist, financials, brand guidelines or training notes. We work with what is available and note what is absent; you do not need to prepare anything new before the engagement begins.
Are the fees negotiable?
The fees listed are our standard rates and are not subject to negotiation. They reflect the actual time and depth involved in each engagement. If scope changes materially from what was initially discussed, we will raise that before beginning work, not after.
Can I use the Sounding-Board while also completing a review?
Yes. Some clients find it useful to run the monthly advisory alongside a project-based engagement, particularly when they are also managing negotiations or internal conversations at the same time. We are happy to discuss the practicalities if this is relevant to your situation.
What happens after the readiness review is delivered?
The written report is yours to use however you choose. Some clients use it as the basis for internal planning; others share it with prospective franchisees or legal advisers. We offer a follow-up call at no additional charge to walk through any section of the report that requires clarification.
